Ever find or create an image that had very rough, pixelated, and noticeable edges? This tutorial will explain how to give your image smooth, transitional edges that blend in nicely with your background. This is known as anti-aliasing.

1. Here is my image. I want use it for a wallpaper I’m creating but you can see the harsh jagged edges of the cactus. This wont look good at all in the final outcome. Lets fix it up a bit.

2. I just pasted this image on a new layer and named it cactus like so.

3. To select every black pixel, go to select>color range and click any area within the cactus.

4. Click OK and here is what your selection should look like.
This tutorial will teach you how to create a nice finished-looking wood texture.

Ever since the trend of laptops has caught on, online dvd rental has almost lost its appeal. People download free movies and songs, killing the scope of car audio as well. Only gadgets like scanners and printers still find themselves in use.

1. Begin with a document with any size, I chose 800×600. Fill the background color with #9b6808.

This tutorial will teach you how to take a single or collection of photos and give them a beautiful mosaic effect.

1. Begin by selecting a single photograph or creating a collage using the layer mask blending method. If you are unfamiliar with this you can read how to easily blend 2 images together. Here is a quick arrangement of photos I found. Notice how the different picture edges aren’t aligned or clean, this is perfectly fine.

2. Minimize that document, and create a new document 60×60 pixels. Select transparent background. This will be your mosaic pattern. Next, zoom in and take out your pencil brush tool (B) and select a size of 1 or 2 pixels. Draw in a vertical line 2 pixels wide along the left side of the box and a horizontal 2 pixel tall line along the top of the box. You can hold down shift while doing this to make the drawing line constrain to a linear path. You can use any color (I chose white).

3. Go to edit>define pattern and give it a descriptive name. You can now close this without saving. If you think you may want to change the color or other aspects later down the road you can save it.

4. Now go back to your original document and create a new layer (CTRL+SHIFT+N) on top of every other layer like shown. You can call it ‘pattern’. Take out your paint bucket tool (G) and select ‘pattern’ from the fill mode drop box on the top settings bar. Now click (paint in) anywhere in your document.

This quick tutorial is an extremely useful and easy way to give any object a grunge effect. Best of all you can move the grunge layer in real time until you are satisfied with the look.

1. For our example I’m going to create a rounded edge box with text inside. This tutorial is design for a white background (but don’t worry – I will explain later how to do it without a white background). On a new layer begin by using the rounded rectangle tool with the ‘fill’ option selected with any color you like. If you use the ‘paths’ option right click it like shown and go to make selection.

2. Once your shape is filled with a color, make sure it is still selected (so it has the marquee selection like shown) and go to select>modify>contract. And use a value of around 6 pixels.

3. Once the selection is contracted, hit the ‘delete’ key on your keyboard to delete the contracted selection.
This original tutorial will go over how to create your own world from scratch using some nifty filter effects while utilizing the color range feature.

1. Begin by setting your foreground color to #0e43b1 and background color to #0a7310. Go to filter>render>clouds.

2. Next go to filter>sketch>note paper. Use these settings. Keep in mind to get the effect which you can see in the next step, the the image balance settings will have a very fine line in which it needs to be set at. In other words, a value of 13 may be too little and a value of 15 may be too much. I found 14 to be perfect.

4. Next go to select>color range, use these settings, and select anywhere in the middle of any green part of your document. For the color range preview, white will represent the ‘water’ and black will represent the ‘land’. When you select OK, all your ‘land’ will be selected with a marquee selection.

5. With the selection still active, go to filter>artistic>sponge and use these settings.

Plain ol’ televisions are a lost story now. This is the age of home theater systems. People are talking about multi dvd players and multiple car subwoofers. The age of I phone has engulfed us all.

1. Begin with a unique font that will look good with the ‘liquid metal’ effect. I chose Channel Tuning, get it at the Nifty Tutorials Resource page.

2. I chose to increase the spacing between letters in order to give the final product a better look. You can access this text settings box by highlighting your text and hitting CTRL+T.

3. Next go into the blending options for the text and apply the following styles.
Bevel & emboss:

5. Stroke gradient color settings:
You know that infamous label on many CD’s out there? Here is your chance to create one from the ground up and add a few nice final touches to it.

Not all computers are compatible with all varieties of cd and dvd drives. Bad dvd rental quality also effects the life of these hardwares. This holds true for bad quality digital cameras as well.

1. Begin with a document around 800×600 pixels. Fill the background with a medium gray and then create a new layer. Using the rectangular marquee tool (M) draw a selection about 500×325 pixels. You can use the fixed size style which is located on the top nav settings bar. Fill in your selection with black. Don’t deselect yet.

2. With the selection still active, create a new layer and fill the same selection with white.

3. Next go to select>modify>contract and use a value of 5 pixels. Hit OK then hit delete on your keyboard. Don’t not deselect yet.

4. This is what you should have.

5. With the contracted selection still active, choose the rectangular marquee tool (M) and use the ‘intersect with selection’ option as shown.

6. Draw over your selection where you want the white bar to appear. Try to get it to be close to the height it needs to be.

7. This is what you should have when you let go of your mouse button. Fill it with white. Make sure this is on the layer with the white border.
This tutorial will teach you how to create a very nice looking thick diagonal website background. It is very clean layout and can also be used for images, wallpapers, etc.

1. Begin by creating a new document at 40×40 pixels. Make it transparent.

2. Go to edit>preferences>guides, grids & slices. Use these settings:

3. Here is what you should see when zoomed in.

4. Next set your colors to #bababa and #767676 and use the pencil brush tool (B) with any small size, we are just sketching in a rough outline of the diagonal pattern.
